Un habitante de Chile\, en promedio\, experimenta cuatro terremotos de alta liberación de energía a lo largo de su vida. \nGracias a esas grandes liberaciones de energías es que tenemos unas maravillosas montañas y unos yacimientos mineralizados que no se dan en ninguna otra parte del planeta. \nNo hay persona en Chile que viva a más de 20 km de una falla activa\, y el sismo es nuestra carga de diseño por excelencia\, no hay ingeniero chileno que no haya diseño alguna estructura que el sismo termino controlando. \nLa pregunta que se hace la sociedad siempre es la misma: Cuando es el próximo terremoto? Lamentablemente aún no podemos contestar esa gran pregunta\, pero para la siguiente hemos avanzado muchísimo: y de que magnitud será? \nLos avances computacionales han permitido que tengamos capacidades de procesamiento que no hemos tenido nunca\, y por lo mismo se ha acrecentado la expectativa de poder anticipar la demanda sísmica de una estructura. En este conversatorio hablaremos sobre los distintos métodos para la obtención de la demanda sísmica y cuales estimaciones se adecuan de mejor manera a las distintas topologías de estructuras que están presentes tanto en el mundo industrial como inmobiliario. \nEl moderador de este conversatorio será Ruben Boroschek\, RBA\, quien posee muchísima experiencia como Revisor Sísmico y generador de informes de amenaza sísmica para Latinoamerica\, el panel estará compuesto por: Jorge Crempien-Laborie\, PUC\, quien nos relatará como se generan los estudios de demanda; Dania Valdivia\, EQCO\, quien nos contará cuales son los principales parámetros que se requieren para diseñar distintos tipos de estructuras industriales\, ella posee experiencia diseñando estructuras eléctricas\, papeleras y mineras; y Mario Lafontaine\, RLE\, quien nos compartirá su experiencia como diseñador de edificios del área inmobiliaria\, tanto edificios con o sin aisladores. \nSean todos ustedes bienvenidos y los esperamos el Miércoles 10 de Julio a las 13:00 para esta gran actividad.

DESCRIPTION:Dear Colleagues\,\nIt is my great happiness to inform you that The 16th Asian Regional Conference on Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (16ARC) will be held on October 14-18 in 2019 in Taipei International Convention Center (TICC)\, Taipei\, Taiwan. The main theme of the 16ARC is Geotechnique for Sustainable Development and Emerging Market Regions. A number of subjects on modern geotechnical technologies and activities will be covered up to match up the main theme. In a roll of 60 years\, we sincerely hope that the 16ARC will continue to bring great success following the glories of past ARCs (New Delhi 1960\, Tokyo 1963\, Haifa 1967\, Bangkok 1971\, Banglore 1975\, Singapore 1979\, Haifa 1983\, Kyoto 1987\, Bangkok 1991\, Beijing 1995\, Seoul 1999\, Singapore 2003\, Kolkata 2007\, Hong Kong 2011\, Fukuoka 2015). \nAs the President of Chinese Taipei Geotechnical Society (CTGS)\, the host of 16ARC and the Chairman of the Organizing Committee\, I cordially welcome your participations and kind supports at this coming event in 2019.
