Rafael Iglesias, President
Civil Engineer from the University of Chile, MSc in Soil Mechanics and Earthquake Engineering from Imperial College London.
He has over 14 years of professional experience in geotechnics, participating in civil, industrial, and mining projects. He works as a senior geotechnical engineer and is an associate professor at Universidad Andres Bello.
Camilo Morales, Vice President
Civil Engineer from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, with a Master's degree in Seismic Geotechnical Engineering (PUC) and an MSc in Soil Mechanics and Earthquake Engineering from Imperial College London.
He possesses around 10 years of experience in civil projects and mining waste management. He serves as a Senior Geotechnical Engineer and is an assistant professor at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.
Catalina Mancilla, Secretary
Civil Engineer from Federico Santa María Technical University, Master's in Soil Mechanics from CEDEX, Spain.
Has more than 14 years of experience in building, infrastructure, energy, and mining projects, with a particular focus on geotechnics and tailings dams.
Gonzalo Boada, Treasurer
Civil Engineer from the University of Chile, with a Master's in Geotechnical Engineering and Data Science from Imperial College London.
You possess experience in applied research projects and mining geotechnics, and have actively participated in outreach and professional engagement initiatives in the geotechnical field.
Omar Núñez, Director
Civil Engineer from the University of Chile, with a Master's in Information Technology from University College London (UCL).
He has extensive experience in applied geotechnics, advanced laboratory testing and university teaching, and is the founder and general manager of the One Geotecnia laboratory.
The SOCHIGE Its main purpose is to promote and disseminate the knowledge, development, and research of geotechnics and its broad spectrum of specialities, which include soil mechanics, soil dynamics, foundations, rock mechanics, engineering geology, dam engineering, tunnel engineering, environmental geotechnics, mining geotechnics, highway geotechnics, and port geotechnics, among others. Additionally, in order to promote the discipline and knowledge among its members, the Society also aims to organise meetings and conferences for the dissemination of scientific and technical work and the exchange of experiences.
Our society aims to facilitate exchanges between professionals and academics from different specialities, promote knowledge and experience in the discipline, and support any initiative aimed at the theoretical and practical advancement of national and international geotechnics.
